WATCH: – 'INJUSTICE 2' ANNOUNCEMENT TRAILER IS BATMAN V SUPERMAN AGAIN BECAUSE WHY NOT?
Back in 2013, NetherRealm Studios (the guys behind the Mortal Kombat games), brought us one of the greatest fighting games to come out in recent years. The premise of Injustice: Gods Among Us was simple. Get DC’s heroes and villains, add a great storyline and make them fight. What made the game exceptional was the tightness of the controls as well as it’s attention to detail. It’s now 2016 and we finally get a glimpse of it’s sequel, Injustice 2.
Injustice 2 seems to follow the premise of the original game. One of DC’s villains pits all of DC’s heroes against one another and while this villain was the Joker in the previous instalment, it seems that a new foe has arrived. This foe in question is the one who seems to be narrating the trailer and I believe may actually be voiced by none other than Bryan Cranston. Who he voices remains unknown but based off the line “each time I enter the pit I emerge reborn”, it’s possible that they’re referencing the Lazarus Pit meaning that Ra's Al Ghul may be joining the roster this time around.
Speaking of the roster, it looks bloody good as of now. It’s an easy assumption to make that fan favourites like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman will all be back as well as the entire roster of the last game. NetherRealm have also confirmed that newcomers Red Lantern Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd will also join the fight with more characters to be announced in the future.
The thing that stands out the most in the trailer is the armour mods that every character seems to have. It’s like Oprah rocked up to DC and went “You get armour, and you get armour, and you get an armour, everybody gets mech armour”. All this armour was put there to reveal the game’s new Gear System. Basically players will be able to customise their players with Gear when they play. This Gear is obtainable through loot that is acquired every time you play. The gear isn’t just cosmetic but also enhances character abilities, allowing the gamer to change their strategy accordingly.
Besides all that stuff, the trailer looks slick. Characters look perfect. I’m sure the game will play just as well or better than the last one. We can expect the game in 2017 but until then I’m sure we’ll get more news about it during E3. While I wait for this game to come out, I’m gonna go back and play the first one so don’t expect any articles from me for a while.
