New York rapper Awkwafina is known for her provocative lyrics that challenge the status quo.

Her oversized glasses, alternative beats and catchy lyrics have scored her a few viral MV's in the past.

In this latest video,  she's brought along legendary comedian Margaret Cho to satirise Asian stereotypes from the 'Asian schoolgirl' to the original The Ring film.

However, Awkwafina's position in the rap industry itself is a challenge to the status quo. In the short film documentary Bad Rap, which documents the experiences of Asian American rappers in America, Awkwafina says 'The hip-hop elitists are used to tearing me down because they're not used to seeing a little, diminutive Asian girl.'

This song is designed to be an anthem of sorts, not just commenting on Asian representation in Western media, but also to encourage the wider audience too see outside stereotypes.

Soldier on, Awkwafina.
