Fifth Harmony fails to surprise by dropping another potential mega hit.

Since chart-topping singles like Sledgehammer, Worth It and Work from Home, they’ve returned with All in My Head (Flex), which features the stoner-chic aesthetic of Fetty Wap. While there’s no denying it’s a great song with a catchy chorus and reggae-inspired tune that is inevitably going to dominate every radio station ever, that’s pretty much all it has going for it.

Yes, we all want to “flex” ‘cos it’s “time to impress” and “climb into [Fifth Harmony’s] bed” – God damn, this song is catchy –, because it’s an easy chart-topper with a simplistic formula for success: an unadorned backtrack with a regular, percussive beat, uncomplicated lyrics, a cameo from a well-received artist, and a sexually charged premise. That’s all you need these days, at least for pop.

On the bright side, the music video is decent? I'm kidding, the music video is shit. If the song was an easy chart-topper, this is just plain insulting. Seriously, all it has are Fifth Harmony trying to look sexy on a beach and a lot of shirtless guys. I can see they’re taking cues from Beyonce’s Drunk in Love, but Jesus Christ, this is so uninspiring and… lazy. Plus the obvious Friendable product placement is laughable. What even is that? The new Tinder?

Alright, I admit I’ll be jamming to All in My Head (Flex) because it's a great party song. The music video, on the other hand? Take a look for yourselves.
