LISTEN: PORTER ROBINSON & MADEON COLLAB SOUNDS LIKE TOO MUCH MADEON
Porter Robinson has come out strong in a collaboration with Madeon. Friendship goals on point. These two are currently kicking it in the EDM genre, so you can imagine how much hype was created when they released Shelter.
With the release of Shelter they have also announced their joint tour in North America. I’m dying of jealousy that they aren’t coming to Australia because watching Porter Robinson’s live set is something that everybody should have the opportunity to witness. Them visuals. And to have him playing together with Madeon. Good lord, my ovaries.
Okay now hype aside, this song isn’t really that mind-blowing. It’s definitely been on repeat for me since its release but with the talents of these two combined, I was kind of expecting something more. The main melody is super repetitive and gets quite irritating after a while. The song begins quite excitingly, with the hopes of a grand ending with its build up but it never quite comes.
Regardless, it is a super catchy song and I’m always a big fan of Madeon’s vocals and its digital sound. The production quality and song writing is amazing in Shelter. But while combining their styles together nicely, it feels just a little bit too much Madeon than Porter. The intro vocals, snare and synth sounds show Porter’s influence, with the remainder of the song being overshadowed by Madeon’s influence.
But I have faith that future collabs between them will be amazing. And it sounds like they will continue to make music together. The song ends quite abruptly, ending with “until…”. And until then, we will await patiently for more (hopefully!) eargasms.
