LISTEN: 4MINUTE DISBANDS AFTER 7 YEARS; HERE ARE 7 GREAT SONGS TO CELEBRATE THEM
After seven years, Cube Entertainment's first girl group, 4Minute have disbanded. Seemingly, out of nowhere.
Many fans have come and gone in those seven years, but the team at Playback Society couldn't say goodbye without sharing their favourite songs with everyone.
The group reportedly split because of divergent interests to explore other options in acting and singing.
The five member group included Jihyun, Gayoon, Jiyoon, Hyuna and Sohyun. Only Hyuna has renewed her contract with Cube Entertainment thus far.
Is anyone else feeling the love right now? THE FEELS.
I wish I could have a "heart to heart to heart" with my bae, I don't know why there are three hearts involved here though.
This song is seriously catchy and awesome. Despite the pointless intro which no one cares about, Heart to Heart is great.
Why did 4Minute have to split? I mean, they only just started to get good! No matter what anyone says, 4Minute were never a consistent group.
Their newest stuff, to me, will always be 4Minute at their best. They've come a long way since 2009's not so hot Hot Issue, with Crazy and Hate being a pleasant far cry from their old material.
I remember discovering 4Minute, quite late in the game, sometime in 2015 in the midst of Crazy. I immediately looked back to find out if there were any more good tracks, or whether Crazy was a one off. I was mostly disappointed. But then Hate came along earlier this year, and I thought to myself, if these girls came to Australia, I'd 100% check them out.
But now I'll never get to see them.
In all their years, 4Minute only released one album, 4Minutes Left. I've just finished listening to their final EP, Act. 7, and though this track doesn't have a music video, it's pretty awesome.
HUH brings back so many memories. In 2010, it seems 4Minute was still channelling the early 2000s Madonna and Britney Spears era, and I certainly can't blame them.
But let's be real. If HUH is an acronym for Hit Your Heart, I truly do not want to live on this earth anymore...
More Great Songs
4Minute's Whatcha Doin' Today is exactly what 4Minute's version of IKON's #WYD would sound like. It's hard to believe that O Neul Mueo Hae are used as hooks in both of these songs which sound so different, but it's a nice reminder of what incredibly different sounds we can make with the same words.
My heart will never stop poppin' for 4Minute.
